The Appeal
If you’re getting images of canyons being leapt and Cadillacs with cow horns, then so are we. We love the original Charger, but not just because of those pesky Dukes, because it is arguably the icon of muscle car icons.
This 1970 Charger left the factory as a 500 model equipped with the 'G' 318CI 6.3L V8, but has been considerably upgraded since. It now runs a 440CI 7.2L MOPAR motor with Edelbrock carburettor and MSG ignition. Other treats include those 500 decals, American Racing Torq Thrust wheels and a push bar in homage to those ne’er-do-well Georgia brothers.
We are told that these additions, plus a general restoration, were carried out by the previous keeper. The current one acquired it in 2023. Prior to that, this evocative Charger was in the USA, before arriving in the UK in 2004.
The joy of this Charger is that it neatly blends key elements of the car’s evolution and movie history. With that rumbly V8 under the bonnet and a big comfy two-tone interior to settle into, it looks hugely tempting.
