The Appeal
Before the Miura, the Countach, or even the 350 GT, there was the tractor. The 1960 Lamborghini 1R is a tangible link to Ferruccio Lamborghini's origins as a mechanic and agricultural engineer in post-war Italy. Replacing the earlier DLA/2241R series, the 1R brought a lighter chassis, improved ergonomics, and refined mechanicals to become one of Lamborghini Trattori's most popular models, a workhorse purpose-built for the vineyards and smallholdings of rural Europe.
Today, the 1R occupies a unique position in the collector market. These compact tractors are increasingly found sharing garage space with their distant V12 descendants, prized for the story they tell about one of motoring's most storied marques. With its air-cooled twin-cylinder diesel, distinctive two-tone livery, and characterful reverse-sweep tachometer, the 1R offers a wholly different, and arguably more charming Lamborghini ownership experience. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of automotive history that predates the legendary Lamborghini-Ferrari rivalry which gave birth to the supercar brand we know today.
