The Appeal
The Jaguar Mk 2 3.8 with a four-speed manual overdrive gearbox is widely regarded as the most desirable specification of one of Britain's finest sporting saloons. In race-prepared form, it is a formidable competitor and a thrilling machine to experience on track.
Nick Smith of Swallow Engineering in Essex converted this example for competition, and it went on to compete in the Historic Touring Car Championship during the 1990s. The current owner acquired the car in April 2007 and continued its racing career in the CSCC Swinging Sixties Series. Presented with honest racing patina and accompanied by FIA HTP papers and some spare parts, this is a compelling proposition for anyone looking to step into historic touring car racing, hill climbs, sprints, road rallies or track days.
