The Appeal
The Series IIA is the Land Rover that cemented the marque's reputation as the ultimate go-anywhere workhorse. With its rugged simplicity, ease of maintenance and near-indestructible character, it remains one of the most highly regarded utility vehicles ever built, and is oft-regarded as the golden goose of the original Landie lineage.
This 1964 example spent 60 years in the care of a single family before the current owner purchased it from the original owner's son, and it retains its factory standard specification throughout. The vendor describes it as wonderfully patinated, with masses of character - an honest working machine, not one that's been over-restored. It wears a desirable truck cab with a half canvas tilt, recently renewed by Exmoor Trim, which can be easily removed for open summer motoring. The interior carries the kind of well-worn charm that simply cannot be replicated.
The vendor tells us that this handsome machine always starts and runs well, with all gears - including high and low range - engaging and operating correctly. A ready-to-go all-purpose classic that we're sure will prove very rewarding.image.png1.84 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
