This lot is part of The Blaauwbank Collection, an eclectic mix of vehicles spanning nearly a century of motoring. The collection showcases everything from practical classics to high-end collector cars, all carefully curated and stored in purpose-built, climate-controlled storage hangars in Central South Africa's arid climate.
For overseas buyers, this is an opportunity to acquire classic cars that have never been exposed to salted roads and the damp European climate.

The Appeal
As pretty as the original boat-tailed Duetto is, Alfa Romeo made a great many improvements to its 105 Series Spider, resulting in the Series 2 (or S2), known colloquially as the "Coda Tronca" in reference to its truncated rear end.
The Series 2 Spider Veloce in 2.0-litre form is among the most desirable iterations of Pininfarina's iconic open-top design, and right-hand drive examples are very unusual. This 2000 Spider Veloce is one of a small number assembled from imported kits at Alfa Romeo's factory near Pretoria during the mid-1970s, making it a factory-built RHD car rather than a later conversion.
What sets our Spider apart is its provenance. Having spent its entire life on the South African Highveld, a dry, elevated plateau at 1,800 metres above sea level, it has been spared the damp conditions that have claimed so many of its European counterparts. With just two former registered keepers, this is a compelling opportunity to acquire a factory right-hand drive Spider Veloce in the kind of condition that is increasingly difficult to find.IMG_9506 Noel Grove.jpeg7.05 MB
