The Appeal
The Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser was famously tested in the Australian outback, where it proved a remarkable machine for endurance. Needless to say, Australian-market cars were right at home, and have benefited from the dry climate so prevalent in Oz. This 1975 example was imported to the UK in 2020 and looks particularly solid.
Fitted with a 350 Chevrolet V8 engine paired with a Turbo 400 B&M automatic transmission, this FJ40 has been comprehensively upgraded to deliver modern usability while retaining its classic character. It benefits from power steering, disc brakes all round, a 2-inch suspension lift, and three fuel tanks with a combined 180-litre capacity. An 8,000 lb Warn Zeon 8 winch and lighting upgrades underline its off-road credentials.
Since arriving in the UK, Bob Seymour - a respected V8 specialist based in Ditchling - has serviced and maintained the vehicle, with all UK paperwork present. Inside, the leather bench seats have been professionally re-trimmed, and Dynamat sound deadening has been fitted throughout. Restoration work has included new rubber door seals, undersealing, a bodywork polish, and powder coating of the chrome bumpers and rear tow hook. The vendor notes a minor dashboard defect but describes the vehicle as running well overall.
Garage stored throughout its time in the UK, this is a uniquely modified, muscular off-roader that's ready and waiting to impress its lucky new keeper. image.png1.21 MB
