Twin Cam engine preserved, rather than rebuilt
The Appeal
The Quadrifoglio Verde was the sporting flagship of the Spider's penultimate generation, and what a flagship it was. Distinguished by its deeper front spoiler, aerodynamic side skirts, rear spoiler, 15-inch alloy wheels and handsome interior, the QV was the most purposeful expression of Pininfarina's iconic roadster. Just 2,598 were produced, and they've become hot collectables - rightfully so!
This 1987 example has undergone a comprehensive restoration programme. The bodywork was restored in France by a specialist partner, while chassis work, mechanical reconditioning, interior restoration and final preparation were carried out under the direction of Mircea's Classics in collaboration with Emil Ghinea, Romanian National Hill Climb Champion.
The vendor tells us that the 1,962cc Twin-Cam was found to be in very good mechanical condition and was deliberately preserved rather than rebuilt, with attention instead focused on servicing and synchronising the carburettors and reconditioning the surrounding mechanical systems. The vendor estimates that 90% of the car's mechanical components have been reconditioned or replaced.
Selected upgrades have been fitted, including performance-oriented mechanical components, premium sound insulation and an upgraded audio system. Upon completion, the car was publicly unveiled at the Trofeul Sinaia, a round of the Romanian National Hill Climb Championship - to great fanfare.
This storied, handsome car is now ready and waiting for its lucky new keeper, who we're sure will find it very rewarding. 1-112 Mirceas Clasics S.R.L.jpg11.43 MB
