The Appeal
The Polo GT is something of an underappreciated gem – a Fabia vRS in Volkswagen clothing and with the parent company’s trademark cabin, complete with softer-touch materials. Both share the 1.9-litre TDI PD engine, which produces 130bhp but, more significantly, 310Nm (230 lb.ft) of torque, resulting in impressive mid-range acceleration and relaxed, economical cruising.
This very original car was purchased by the seller in June 2020; since then it has covered less than 7,000 miles, being used just once a week and stored on a drive, and has been serviced by a local VAG specialist.
The Azure Blue bodywork is shiny, with a few light scratches and scuffs, in keeping with its age. The seller has had the alloy wheels restored, and the front wings and bonnet resprayed. The most recent MOT showed no adversaries related to the car’s underside.
The interior is almost entirely original, the exception being the audio head unit, which has been replaced by a Bluetooth unit. The original unit with cassette and CD players is included. The seller notes that a new passenger seat lift/tilt catch is provided, ready to be fitted to the car.
The seller describes this car as “surprisingly nippy, with lots of torque, delivering between 50 and 55 mpg. It feels very similar to the Fabia VRS but more planted on the road, with less body roll. I loved it so much I bought it back from my son!” This car delivers sparkling, subtle performance, with everyday practicality and diesel economy.
