The Rover 75 was conceived as a traditionally styled executive saloon, combining a richly appointed cabin with the comfort and refinement expected of the marque. Its final years, however, produced a rather more unexpected derivative. For the V8, MG Rover substantially re-engineered the normally front-wheel-drive 75 to accept a longitudinally mounted 4.6-litre Ford V8 and rear-wheel drive, creating one of the most unusual cars to emerge from Longbridge.

Unlike the more overtly sporting MG ZT 260, the Rover version retained a deliberately understated character. Its naturally aspirated V8 produced around 256bhp, driving through a four-speed automatic transmission, whilst softer suspension tuning better suited the 75's luxury-oriented brief. The result was an intriguing blend of traditional Rover comfort and American V8 power.

This 2005 example has covered just 44,150 miles and was acquired by the seller from his brother, who reportedly used it only sparingly. The seller describes the interior as being in particularly good condition, whilst the exterior is said to display only the occasional minor scratch.
 
Accompanied by old MOT certificates, some paperwork, books, toolkit, spare wheel and two keys, it is also reported to remain mechanically standard and to run well. With its low indicated mileage and distinctly unconventional combination of rear-wheel drive and V8 power, this late Rover 75 is a particularly interesting example of the marque's final years.
