The appeal
Conceived in secret during the dark years of the Second World War, the Citroën 2CV was exactly the sort of simple, tough and affordable vehicle France would need after the Liberation. Built for 42 years, the 2CV has become one of the most loveable and iconic cars ever made—an actual showcase of practical simplicity and unapologetic minimalism. Its air-cooled flat twin engine, interconnected suspension and lightweight construction offer a driving experience that feels completely different to anything you can buy today.
The Special E version benefits from front disc brakes, and this 1982 example—presented in Jade Green—looks particularly appealing. Resprayed around five years ago, the bodywork still has a lovely sheen and shows only a few minor issues noted. The interior has been recently restored and the seller states it’s in excellent condition. Mechanically, the car has recently had a thorough service, and with a valid MOT plus matching-number details stated, it appears ready to continue its life on the road.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off following a total loss at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic and provide category write-off labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. The presence or absence of a label, however, does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it’s always useful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
