The appeal
Conceived in secrecy during the dark years of World War II, the Citroën 2CV was exactly the kind of simple, tough, affordable car France would need after the Liberation. Built for 42 years, the 2CV has become one of the most charming and iconic cars ever made—an unmistakable showcase of practical simplicity and unapologetic minimalism. Its air-cooled flat-twin engine, interconnected suspension, and lightweight construction deliver a driving experience that feels nothing like anything you can buy today.
The Special E version benefits from front disc brakes, and this 1982 example—presented in its Jade Green color—looks particularly enticing. Repainted around five years ago, the bodywork retains a lovely shine and shows only a few minor blemishes noted by the seller. The interior has recently been restored, and the vendor says it’s in excellent condition. Mechanically, the car has just had a thorough service, and with a valid MOT/Technical Inspection as well as matching-numbered vehicles, as advertised, it appears ready to continue its life on the road.

BEFORE YOU BUY
This sale is subject to Car & Classic’s general conditions. By bidding and/or making an offer, you also accept the following:
✓ The seller is registered as a private seller, meaning that consumer rights arising from European consumer protection legislation do not apply. However, you are still covered by Car & Classic’s general conditions.
✓ We require that non-refundable fees are paid if you are the successful bidder at auction or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and general conditions for specific rates.
✓ This vehicle is “sold as seen”, on a “as-is, where-is” basis and without warranty. Photos and descriptions are provided for guidance only, and it’s standard practice to carry out a full inspection of the vehicle before purchase for your own peace of mind.
✓ VAT is included in the buyer’s deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final price of the offer or submission, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want to make sure the transaction runs smoothly, just like you do—and that’s why the cars and motorcycles registered in the UK and listed on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to confirm they do not have any base insurance database markers for damage or theft, and that they are not subject to a financial charge, so you can bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off in the event of a total loss at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic, and we provide category labels for write-off (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, having or not having a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, and it’s always useful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
✓ Buyers are responsible for collection or delivery of the vehicle. Importing vehicles may involve additional customs duties and import taxes. If you’d like, we can recommend a third-party transport company that can assist.
