The Appeal
Daimler’s SP250 is one of the era’s most interesting classics. Innovative fibreglass bodywork, distinctive design and that lovely Turner V8 make these characterful and immersive alternatives to more common Triumph and MG rivals.
Confusion over the name, niggling early issues and later politics kept production to just 2,654 cars, so the SP250 is also very rare. Later cars like this one were re-engineered by Jaguar to provide a stiffer chassis that addressed those early problems.
This car was first registered in early 1962 and has been with the current keeper since 1997. During his extended ownership, the car has been extensively restored by marque specialists. It features an upgrade to rack and pinion steering and anti-tramp modifications. Alongside regular servicing, most recently in May 2025, the car has received a recent gearbox rebuild and new clutch. It is fitted with a stainless steel exhaust and Kenlowe fan.
The car is said to drive very well. It is always reassuring to find an older classic with a voluntary MOT - this car’s runs to May 2026. A great and very usable example of these practical and distinctive 2+2 V8 roadsters.
The vendor says:
An enjoyable drive with a wonderful sound of the V8 engine . Practical with rear seats (small) and a good sized boot.”
