The Appeal

One of the finest endure/dual sport motorbikes of the 1970s, the Yamaha DT175 combined light weight and a keen, reliable air-cooled engine with robust mechanicals. Its long-travel suspension and drum brakes ensured it was at home in all conditions, even when the going got tough.

This 1974 example was imported to the UK from the USA, and has matching frame and engine numbers, as confirmed by the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club. Recently, it was converted to a 12-volt electrical system, and its wiring harness and headlight wiring were repaired. At the same time, fuel tank was treated with rust remover. Otherwise, it is highly original, and wears a pleasing patina throughout.

The motorbike’s red fuel tank and side panel are bright, with period-correct decals. The seller states that the motorcycle “starts and runs well”. It’s now time for a new owner to register it and enjoy its vintage style and all-terrain ability.
