Deze glorieuze, snelle road tekening UK Home Market Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce is for over £85, 000 spent to bring it to an outstanding level. Between 2014 and 2017 the Alfa had a complete bare shell nut and bolt rebuild and was taken to an impressive specification and colour combination. Whilst the rebuild and expenditure is a huge selling point, we can also confirm the Alfa comes with fantastic paperwork with records dating back to when the car was 3 years old with 16, 000 miles. From the paperwork it appears the speedo was taken back to zero at 54, 000 miles indicating the total mileage from new is less than 80, 000 miles. Since completion of the major rebuild, the Alfa has covered less than 3000 miles.
A huge comprehensive file of receipts accompanies the car and its clear from the expenditure that this restoration was carried out with no expense spared. Whilst the car had been on the road up to 2012, in 2014 the program of work began, and the Alfa was taken to TCS Motorsport and completely stripped down to the bare shell. The bodyshell was then sand blasted and rebuilt with many new panels/ repair sections supplied by Alfaholics. The body was put on a rotisserie and completely rebuilt and fully painted with a stunning Grey finish. The shell was then built up with renewed brightwork, new wiring loom, trims, seals, rubbers, badges and a brand-new heated windscreen.
Thousands of pounds were sent on the mechanical restoration with various parts and ancillaries renewed, overhauled and powder coated. The gearbox was stripped down and rebuilt, the differential stripped and rebuilt, and thousands of pounds spent with Alfaholics on brand new parts and upgrades. OVB 332L has been substantially upgraded with a Stage 4 engine package giving the car an extra 55BHP, also a fast road clutch kit, stainless steel exhaust system and upgraded suspension rebuild. The Alfa Romeo was then completely built up by TCS Motorsport. The interior was then beautifully re-trimmed with new Alfaholics supplied headlining, premium Grey carpets (including boot) and the seats completely re-trimmed in stunning Burgundy leather.
We sold the car to its most recent owner who splits his time between the UK and the Cayman Islands. The Alfa spent the first couple of years in storage with a view to having it shipped overseas, even £3000 was spent on air-conditioning with this in mind. The plan changed in late 2024 and the car was to be used for occasional visits to the UK so in anticipation of this, the Alfa was transported to Tolman Engineering and in the region of £16000 was spent on the car. Worl included rebuilding the Weber carbs, a rolling road set up, new front crank engine seal, new clutch slave master cylinder and flexi, new fuel line front to back, new fuel pump and regulator, new steering box seals, new trailing arms, trailing arm bushes, various zinc plating, powder coating and acqua blasting of small components, Lanoguard underside protection, ceramic coating, upgraded audio and various electrical work.
As expected with the spec and recent work, the Alfa arrives truly sensational to drive. The car feels quick, light and would make the ultimate long distance touring Alfa Romeo GTV. The engine sound terrific, performance is impressive with the increased BHP, and with a rebuilt gearbox, differential, renewed steering, brakes and upgraded suspension, the car really has had everything. Several years on from completion and the body is first class with a fantastic underside. The interior trim is stunning, the engine bay superbly presented but rather than take to shows, this feels like an Alfa that need using and is a car that should give huge confidence in terms of reliability and performance. This is without doubt the very best 60's/ 70's Alfa Coupe we've ever had; it is an incredibly special motor car that offers excellent value considering what has been done to the car.
