The Testarossa is one of the most iconic sports cars ever built, with such a unique and stylish design the car is labelled today as the ''orignal poster car'' of the 80's and 90's. First unveiled in 1984 at the Paris Motor Show, the Testarossa was the successor to the Berlinetta Boxer and was the last car to adopt the mid engine layout. The car was available with manual transmission only and featured a number of specially engineered elements in order to maximise the cars performance. The engine layout kept the centre of gravity to the middle of the car thus providing better stability and improving the cars cornering. The name 'Testarossa' pays homage to the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testarossa, a world famous sports car champion. Testarossa simply means 'Red Head' which refers to the red painted cam covers on the engine.
Delivered new in May of 1987 to a Mr Ronald of Auckland, New Zealand, this Ferrari Testarossa was specified with Rosso Corsa paintwork, Nero leather interior, twin low mirrors and the rarer centre lock wheels. Present within the cars service book dealer stamp is the chassis number with the character 'C'. This designates the car to a UK specification which was requested by Mr Ronald when ordered new. The car spent most of its early life in Hong Kong and was maintained and serviced by Italian Motors LTD (Ferrari main dealer) from 1987 until 2004, all stamps are present within the cars original service book and supported by invoices. The car was then imported to New Zealand in 2006, where it was maintained by Euro Tune, Maranello Auto Specialists and various other garages. Also included with the cars paperwork are the original import papers, invoices and the registration documents from when the car was brought to the UK. Upon arrival to the UK the current owner of the vehicle had a great deal of work carried out by SMDG Ferrari Specialists, preparing the car before it was placed within his collection.
Complete with a well documented service history from new and all original books, keys and document wallet, this wonderful example has been recently serviced by Furlonger and is ready for its new owner.
