The fourth generation, R129 Series of iconic Mercedes-Benz SL models was launched at the 1989 Geneva Motorshow to critical acclaim.
Beautifully engineered, the R129 SL range bristled with technical refinement including an automated electro/ hydraulic collapsible soft-top that with the touch of a button takes just 30 seconds to raise and lower.
With typically Germanic thoroughness, the new SL had been exhaustively developed and tested. Mercedes-Benz also introduced an innovative world first safety feature in the R129 series with a hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar that activates within a split second in the event of a rollover.
