Early in 2017 a local customer charged us with finding a superb 500SL and by the late Spring we had found a cracker - offered by our friend at Philip Welch in York
The previous owner, a Mercedes Benz Club local section chairman, had owned her for the last 22 years - his house name was "Pagoda's"
His purchase invoice is still in the history folder from April 1995 and he always had her serviced by his local Mercedes authorised dealership
He only used her for the summer months (naturally), as evidenced by the tax discs from 1995 - 2005 and also had her displayed at the NEC National Classic Car Show in 1999 for the Mercedes Benz Club
Clearly she was a loved car and he proudly offered her for exhibition for the Club
In 2005 when she was 21 years old, he decided to painstakingly strip her to pieces and had a complete rebuild, finished in as "new condition"
The process took him 10 years and the results are amazing
All photographs are kept both before and during the restoration as well as all invoices
It's really amazing what he achieved
Obviously our customer was thrilled and used her mainly for trips to the Country for long weekends and he has driven 7. 000 miles since
Like most new owners he has treated her to a few gifts - a centre armrest, Alpine stereo, with bluetooth, Alpine coaxle speakers and a 300 watt subwoofer (all fitted delicately so that nothing is on view)
We have serviced her at all times for him and like all of his cars, no expense is spared
More than attractive in Silver (735) with dark blue interior (072) and air conditioning she must be the best example available
