Produced on the 6th February 1987, its one of the first 4, 585 of the European market “AK05” (195bhp) versions produced.

I bought the car in 1999, after a one-way plane ticket to Monchengladbach and no other means of getting home, to “tentatively look” at the car, which I knew full well I would buy, which means I am the only UK owner of this car.

Before me, it belonged to the Service Manager at the Berten BMW Garage in Nettetal, Germany, who had been able to look after the car with all the benefits that staff discount and access to a BMW dealership brings with it.

I drove the car back from Germany, changed headlight beam direction and put some fresh tyres on, so it sailed through the MOT and the DVLA registered the car and the following day, I drove to the Le Mans 24 Hours for the first of many happy adventures.

I have the original German documentation detailing the previous German owners and confirming the original specification of the car. All handbooks and M3 supplements go with the car.

It was my daily transport for 4 years, then a company car meant it was kept purely for weekends. The car hasn’t been subjected to Track Days, as so many M3s of this age have been, as I was racing saloon cars in the Alfa Championship at the time.

The engine was re-built by Tim Adams Race Engines in 2001/ 2 replacing the chain tensioner, as was the Munich Legends advice at the time, for cars at 100, 000 miles/ 160, 000km….

In 2005/ 6, life got in the way, meaning the car was taken off the road to be safely stored in a warm, dry industrial unit.

Since the end of 2016, the car has been fully re-sprayed and also received 2x Genuine BMW front wings – note the correct European wings, without the unsightly UK side repeaters. The car also had a new BMW windscreen fitted with the correct original green top tint.

During 2016/ 17, the car has been re-trimmed in the correct Anthracite fabric and new heating elements for both front seats.

Mechanical re-fettling has included a new fuel pump, pressure regulator, fuel lines and filters, pads, disks and all the fluids changed, including gearbox and differential.

Equipment: Limited-slip differential, MacPherson strut front axle with anti-dive and reinforced anti-roll bar, sports tuned suspension, dual ellipsoid headlamps, front air dam, rear air dam, plastic boot lid with rear wing, flared wheel arches, heated side mirrors, heated door locks, black satin chrome finish, M Technic leather sports steering wheel, leather gear knob and gaiter, central locking, power front windows, electric sliding roof, map lights in the rear view mirror, glove box torch, BMW sports seats, contoured rear seats, toolbox in boot lid, oil temperature gauge, M Technic instrument cluster, with speedo and trip in kilometres, service interval indicator, outside temperature display, check/ control info centre, optional OBC II computer.

The car also has electrically adjustable AC Schnitzer mirrors, which are rarer than rocking horse deposits.

Exterior: finished in Diamond Black, (Code 181).
Interior: Finished in Anthracite Country Cloth, (Code 0211), the M3 Recaro sports seats have been re-trimmed in the correct fabric.

The full BMW tool kit is located in the boot lid.

The car was MOT’d last year, hardly used, then MOT'd last week, (when the VOSA man appeared at the garage), so it has been thoroughly checked over..

This is a well-loved and completely original example of the E30 M3 which is calling out to be enjoyed by the 2nd UK owner.
