For sale is this absolutely great example of the iconic XR3i, First registered in September 1999 and having only 5 keepers in its life it has really been very well cared for and is a true survivor, which is a rarity with these mk4 models, so many being modified or suffering from corrosion issues.
As you can see from the photos it really does look great, the Rosso red paintwork is deep and lustrous and the interior can only be described as time warp, with little or no signs of wear. It is completely standard through out and even still has the original stereo and uncut parcel shelf, two keys and period immobiliser system.
It drives as good as it looks, and before Christmas I drove from Scotland down to the South Coast in it (470miles) and only stopped for fuel! The engine has recently been rebuilt and starts first time, no smoke or rattles, hot or cold and still good performance. The gearbox is sweet and precise and the car feels tight and stable on the road.
Inside the car once again everything works with the exception of the sunroof (which is most likely just stuck but I do not want to force it and cause a problem). The electric windows, central locking, stereo etc are all perfect.
Under the car is solid and I have had it recently inspected on a ramp, it is clean and has been carefully under sealed (not caked) to ensure its future.
If you are looking at this car you probably know the desirablilty and collectability of classic Fords so I have no doubt whoever buys it, will enjoy their investment or have a lot of fun driving an 80's icon.
It is good enough to drive and use straight away and would not look out of place at local show, but there is still room for a perfectionist to take it the next level if desired.
