Austin A35 – 2 Door/ High Quality Restoration
Introduced in 1956 the A35 replaced the A30 giving improved acceleration & top speed to meet the improving road conditions and growing expectations of drivers in the mid 1950’s.
Our example is a late car delivered directly to the first owner, Mr. H. W. Porter, during May 1959 (manufacturing ceased in April 1959) in the favoured combination of tweed grey with contrasting cherry red interior. Mr Porter owned the car for over 40 years and after an extensive period of time in storage our A35 was purchased in 2005 by the second owner for his wife.
The car was despatched to Sherwood Restorations for recommissioning and a respray (the original paint work had faded during storage) and this has stood the test of time remarkably well with no welding, excellent panel gaps, paint and chrome. The engine bay is one of the nicest we have seen and the interior is original and in excellent condition
Mechanically the car starts easily with sharp steering and brakes (for an A35) and is a real pleasure to drive – I believe the indicated mileage of 42, 000 miles is correct but we cannot warrant this. The history file includes original Austin Warranty, delivery details, literature from the factory, a summary of previous owners, MOT’s back to late 1990’s and various invoices.
The popularity of A35’s has grown significantly recently. This example is one of the best on the market and will provide years of pleasure for the lucky new owner
