Here we have what is quite possibly the best 940 currently on sale.
It is a 1993 2. 3 high output turbo estate that uses the 165 bhp B230FT engine with automatic transmission. This great car has covered just 91200 miles from new (147200 kilometers) at the time of writing.
It was sourced and imported by ourselves from Japan last year. In the Japanese used car system it was rated as grade 4 which is the highest feasible grade for a used car of this age. The history file includes a copy of the Japanese inspection report and de-registration/ export certificate. Also present is full inspection and service history from Japan consisting of 22 completed service sheets. Since its arrival in the UK we have replaced the cambelt kit, auxillary belts and front brakes using genuine Volvo parts. The original bookpack is present along with 2 keys, a full unused toolkit & gloves, original fabric overmats and stereo.
The specification is factory and unmodified though is one of the highest specification 940's that I have seen with the following included: Air-Con, Electric Sunroof/ Windows/ Mirrors, ABS, integrated rear child seat (5 seats in total), tailgate spoiler, turbo boost gauge, grey leather upholstery, electric front seats and drivers airbag. The metallic graphite grey roof rails, window surrounds, 16" Hydra Alloys and dark egg crate grille give this car a slightly sportier look as well.
Unlike many UK examples this one has not been exposed to road salt for its first 25 years and neither has it been used as a van, skip, chicken coop, climbing frame or drifted. It does not have a towbar fitted so has never towed. I cannot find any rust on it. The overall condition is superb with gleaming paintwork, straight door cards and a tidy load area.
This is a car you should really be viewing if you are after a 940 to cherish and use for the next 5 to 10 years.
Since 2016 I have imported a number of Volvo's from Japan including several 850 R's, S90, V90, S90 Royal and a 780 Coupe. The condition of all these cars is not to be confused with hard used and rusty examples that we often find in the UK. The 940 series is now following on from the 200 series cars and is becoming more appreciated for it's relative simplicity, quality and RWD appeal. In the long run it will be this high output 2. 3 turbo version that will become most collectible among Volvo enthusiasts.
