Here we have one of the most popular models of the classic Rovers, a Rover 3. 5 litre P5B Coupe, with a very well detailed and interesting history.
The Rover will be selling as a project vehicle however runs and drives and seems a solid example.
The last MOT expired in 2017 at 85, 111. However the vehicle is now registered as a historic vehicle, benefiting from tax and MOT exemption.
Within the paper work for the Rover is a current V5 document showing only 6 owners.
As mentioned, the Rover was only last on the road in 2017 however will need some recommissioning to get it back up to road worthy standard, a good service and the paintwork isn’t great but serviceable and in my opinion the interior is pretty good.
This could be a full restoration for the passionate restorers however could quite easily be an ongoing, gradual but usable project once the recommissioning has been completed.
Looking at the old V5 documents within the history file, it looks as though the first keeper bought the vehicle from new in 1968 until he passed away in 1991, when the Rover was then registered to his son up until 2004.
Looking at all the past MOTs, maintenance and service invoices the mileage looks to be genuine and there’s nothing to prove that it isn’t genuine. The past MOTs show mileage history all the way back to 1995 at 71, 203 miles (however please make your own enquiries).
In 2004 the Rover was sold to a gentleman who slowly restored it and stayed in ownership for 10 years.
In 2014 the Rover was sold to a gentleman who owned for a year and then sold it to another family member.
The last registered owner of the Rover has owned from 2015 – 2019.
Throughout all the years of ownership the Rover has not seemed to cover a massive amount of mileage, especially in recent years. However looking at the paper work it does seem to have been continuously used and maintained.
Additionally within the paper work is a Rover 3. 5 litre owners instruction manual, old tax discs dating back to 1989, old photographs of the Rover including photographs of the original keeper, lots of old MOT bills, service bills and maintenance invoices.
This seems like a really worthwhile project for anybody looking to get their hands on one of these very popular classics!
