1937 BSA B22 Empire Star 250cc OHV
The Empire Star range was introduced in 1936 to commemorate the Sliver Jubilee of King George V and ran until 1939 and the outbreak of war and then went on to become the Gold Star line.
Designed by the brilliant Val Page, having been based upon the popular Blue Star range, the 'Empire' featured an alloy primary chaincase with a special high compression piston and a hardened cylinder bore. It also had some modern features, including a new foot-change gearbox and dry sump lubrication.
This fine example is in excellent all round order -not perfect, but a very tidy, well running pre-war bike. The OHV engine pulls really well through the gears and she has a surprising turn of speed. The gearbox has recently been re-built and changes nicely and the brakes are strong and work well.
She has also had the tank painted recently and a new speedo fitted and is a very presentable bike, which runs beautifully. She comes with a folder of old MOT’s, tax discs, invoices, owners manual and a parts list.
She’s not on her original registration number, but comes with an age related plate which is transferable and valued at £1, 200
A perfect bike for a Sunday afternoon run in the sunshine!
