With some pain in our hearts we have decided to sell our TVR Taimar. We have owned the car since may 2005 after a body off restoration by the previous owner (and friend). We made sure that the car was very well maintained and garage stored. The chassis is rot free, the body paintwork needs attention (no rust of course) but cracks are visible although you do not see these on the photos made a few months ago. We have made lovely trips to Luxemburg, France, Italy and Great Brittain but the last few years were hardly able to find time to tour (work and grand children...) enjoying our car. This vehicle is made for touring with a usable and easy access boot. And beware: listening to the glorious exhaust notes is addictive.
Latest MOT (in Dutch:APK), just renewed, expires 25 april 2022 (!).
Below, a summary of the work carried out over the years. Photo's and invoices available:
1993: Chassis: welding, blasting and powdercoating, new springs, bushings, brakes etc etc. 4 new red KONI shocks
2001: Exchange engine ( Ivor Searle UK)
Engine was made suitable to run on unleaded fuel.
Stainless Steel Exhaust and mild steel manifolds.
2x Extra elect./ magnetic radiatorfans were installed to improve cooling capacity.
5 speed box and bell housing as replacement for the standard 4 speed box.
A. o. Water pump, expansion tank, waterhoses.
An Electric fuel pump (with a return hose) was mounted on the fuel tank. This pump can be switched on and off by a switch beneath the steering column in order to fill the carburettor fast after a long stand-still. So even after a winter stop of 3 months the engine will start without effort.
The body was resprayed. In may 2002 the car was MOT approved and a valuation report was conducted by Steijn Sportcars ( available)
2005: New switches of the electrical operated windows
2006: K&N air filter housing ( original Ford housing available)
2006: front upper balljoints were replaced by maintainance free balljoints. New PU bushings.
2007: New aluminium petrol tank + transmitter.
2008/ 9: 5 x Rims restored, aligned, powder coated.
Carburettors ultrasonicly cleaned, Electronic ignition fitted, new carburettor nozzles, power/ torque report available (conducted by Speed Centre Geldermalsen).
2010: Radiator block renewed.
A Bike computer was mounted " invisibly" so you can read the distances between roadbook notes precisely ( 10 meters) This comes in handy for touristic dot-arrow rallys.
Complete clutch, water pump and starter renewed
Sunroof: new fabric.
Ford 5-speed (!) reconditioned
2011: 4 new Vredestein Classic Sprint tires 185/ 14
2019: New Battery (Varta Blue) and NGK spark plugs and NGK ignition cables renewed.
Frontscreen replaced due tot stone chipping. Also a new seal with chrome tendon was fitted.
2020: carburetor cleaned, brake fluid renewed ( as every 2nd year)
As you can see: No compromises in maintainance.
This is a lovely, reliable, old school true British sportscar, easy and economical to maintain and to run.
