Lot 14 - A 1928 AJS K2 799cc V-Twin combination project, registration number UO 6181, frame number K2 45922, engine number K2 45922, Black. AJS was founded in 1909 by the Stevens brothers in Wolverhampton manufacturing quality machines. The first V-Twin was added to the model range in 1922 in 633cc configuration. A V-Twin would then form part of their range until the early 1930 in various capacity increases culminating with the 998cc version. This K2 combination project has been in our vendors possession since the early 1970s. Purchased as a complete running machine the AJS was stripped down in anticipation of a full restoration, and that is how it has remained ever since. Some work was carried out and there is a receipt on file from W R & S Pook Ltd in 1981 (£230) for new cylinder liners to STD, bushes, pistons/ rings and a polished crank. As far as our vendor is aware the machine is complete in all major respects and is as he dismantled it. Now requiring full restoration the K2 project will be offered for auction with a continuation RF60, its last MOT (December 1971), an insurance document (December 1971) and the aforementioned receipt. RF60, MOT and tax exempt.
