The rare CL55 AMG Supercharged (215) coupe cost a king’s ransom when new and is now one of the most affordable collectors’ cars. Autocar magazine wrote in 2014, “At the right price and spec and with proper credentials is this the best big coupé money can buy?”
It’s 493 bhp engine produced 516 lb/ ft torque and propelled the CL55 AMG from rest to 62 mph in just 4. 8 seconds. Motor Trend magazine measured the 0 to 60 mph acceleration at just 4. 27 seconds! They wrote, “This is serious pavement-buckling, addictive-sound-like-you've-never-heard-before kind of performance - all from a bank-vault-solid premium luxury coupe.”
The 215 model was equipped as standard with the hydraulic Active Body Control (ABC) system, and that kept the car level even in fast corners, providing both a comfort and a sports setting. The car’s height could also be increased by using a button, increasing ground clearance for driving on difficult terrain, and then lowered automatically at higher speeds. LED brake lights were also standard issue on the CL55, which illuminated faster than conventional bulbs.
Supplied by Mercedes-Benz of Macclesfield main dealers the CL55 boasts five service stamps, the last of which was carried in in March 2019. The car has covered just 6, 000 miles in the past 9 years and drives like a new car. The CL55 is supplied complete with its book pack and service history file.
