This beautiful R107 300SL, finished in the rare but hugely attractive colour combination of black with dark red leather, has covered just 44k miles from new backed up by a superb service history. A car that has wanted for nothing, it is in absolutely immaculate condition throughout.
Supplied new by Caffyns of Warminister in ’88, this SL was specified with leather upholstery, cruise control, headlamp wash/ wipe and a fire extinguisher. In 1996 Mercedes main dealer, Woking Motors, sold the car to a gentleman in Surrey who kept the car 21 years until 2017. It has been with one collector since.
Always garaged, maintained perfectly and used sparingly, this 300SL has today covered just 44, 738 miles, yet has 26 stamps in the service book, the majority from a well-respected Mercedes specialist.
Along with corresponding bills and receipts, the history file includes all original books and manuals.
We have just been through the car in our workshop and refreshed any aspect required, including a cylinder head overhaul, making this a completed sorted SL that drives every bit as well as it looks.
In terms of condition this SL is first rate. The body is immaculate, the bulkhead perfect, the wheels unmarked and shod with premium, matching Dunlops all round.
The interior is similarly immaculate and completely original, without any of the usual fading to the upholstery and wood.
The boot area looks as though it has never been used and the engine bay is extremely clean and well-presented.
Late R107 300SLs have always been collectable and seen by many as ‘the one to have’. This example, in beautiful colours, has covered a very low mileage and been cared for superbly in long-term ownership. With the recent works by ourselves it requires nothing of its next owner other than to enjoy owning this very pretty car.
