Description
If it's rarity you're after, then it doesn't get much rarer than this. The '90's era Fiat Tipo in general is certainly not a common sight on our roads any more, but this particular model (the 2. 0 8v Gran Turismo) is the unicorn among them. Less than 100 were produced in RHD with the fantastic 8v Lampredi twin cam (Same engine as 131, 124, strada 130TC and Lancia Beta etc) and of those few... this is the last remaining one! With most people back in the early nineties opting for the flagship sedicivalvole with an extra 27bhp than the GT, Fiat decided its run would be short lived. But as time went on a lot of the 16v versions suffered from bottom end failure, whilst the near bullet proof 8v's never had this issue. So in hindsight, it has to be asked, if the GT was the better car? Just as spirited to drive, and came with most of the Sedicivalvole's extras it is a shame that more weren't snapped up.
But you will be pleased to know that the last of the GT's has not been turned into some track weapon, used for spares and had its heart ripped from its chassis. No, it is here with us and is in fine, original form. It has covered just 80k miles from new and has had only two owners in its lifetime. After a bit of pampering (cam belt, tensioner, waterpump and a few cosmetics) she is now MOT'd through until Aug 2020, and ready to enjoy once more. A joy to drive and a totaly useable classic, Tipo's feel both modern to drive, yet retro in appearance.
