Description
NEEDS NEW ENGINE
1979 Type 2 Devon classic late bay VW camper van, with full-length pop top. 4 berth, fridge, sink with water pump, hob and grill.
Apart from needing a new engine, the van is in good condition after plenty of TLC and two extensive restorations, both in 2006 and in 2017.
Last service June 2021.
MOT expired June 2022.
In August 2019, the following work was carried out:
New front suspension beam (removing and refitting belly tank)
New set of ball joints
New pair of front brake calipers
New rear wheel cylinders
Replacing all fuel lines from tank to engine
In 2017 we had the van stripped back, fully cleaned up, re-panelled where necessary and made good all over, before professional respray in original Mexican Beige and new seals throughout. The interior units rebuilt with new fridge (gas or electric), sink and gas hob.
In 2013 the roof was also fully upholstered, re-hinged, with new canvas, hydraulics and interior carpet. New rear bumper.
In 2006 we did the first refurb, replacing all panels where necessary and the whole van was resprayed.
Seat covers are worn and the Grade 1 Thatcham alarm needs reconnecting, but we have all the contacts for that.
Nearly 40 years worth of paperwork tracking a long service history and original purchase booklets etc.
