An extremely original 1981 W123 280CE that has led a very pampered life being mainly in the hands of collectors throughout its existence. A previous owner kept it in his Mercedes dealership showroom and even refused to use it in the rain! Originality is the key here, it's not the usual rusted/ repaired example that are generally all that's available. This is fantastically original and unmolested. With all four windows down and electric sunroof open it's almost a convertible but without the draughts, noise and leaks experienced by soft-top cars of this period. Uber stylish this has a lower roof line than the W123 saloons and is becoming extremely rare to find in this condition with its excellent provenance.
It features the desirable 2. 8 6-cylinder engine which starts and runs very nicely with no untoward smoke or noises as you would expect from a car thats done only 61, 000 miles. Power delivery is strong and smooth through the automatic transmission that makes this a very nice long distance GT or town cruiser.
the interior is unmarked and completely original featuring the durable'MB Tex' seats. Everything works as it should except the cruise control which rarely work on these W123s and are usually not worth fixing, being troublesome from new.
The colour is one of the most desirable - Silverblau - which suits the design of these seek coupes very well contrasting nicely with the brightwork. The bodywork looks original with only very minor signs of age with the smallest of minor blemishes here and there, from a short distance this car looks like new. The wheels are perfect and shod with correct and relatively new Michelin rubber. The history file is extensive and the car comes with original spare wheel and tyre, toolkit and full owners manual set. You won't find a better one, or a more usable classic.
