Early mk1 1. 6 project for sale, £650 firm.
I've had this car for about 8 years, gradually improving it, and no longer have the time to fix it. For an MOT, it needs nearside rear sill repair - I have the panels but no time.
Good points: Everything works, it runs and drives well, engine and transmission are running quietly on ~170K miles. Very original UK car, not an import, with good interior, solid drivetrain - strong and quiet engine and gearbox, fairly recent cambelt change, brakes and shocks all good, no knocks from the suspension, oil regularly changed. Early 1. 6 car with power steering and electric windows, not the later detuned version. Not mucked about with - the only mod is a stainless tubular exhaust manifold. Even has its original Clarion stereo.
Bad points: may have been a cat C writeoff long ago, has small rust patch at LH top corner of screen frame, paint faded and lacquer peeling on LH front wing so needs re-lacquer/ polish, minor oil leak, and as mentioned the rear part of nearside sill needs work (drivers' side has been done) - might get away with a patch for now.
Has potential to be a good car, and if no interest I will keep it and repair it in the Spring. Last MOT ran out around July, but runs, drives and stops well. Located near Leamington Spa, viewing recommended.
