The Sunbeam Alpine was produced in five versions from 1959 until 1968. The final version, the MKV was fitted with the all new 1725cc Rootes engine with 5-bearing crank and twin Strombergs. It was available as a convertible, referred to as “Sports” or as a GT with hard-top but no soft top.
This car is a 1965 Sunbeam Alpine MKV Sports in Carnival Red with a black interior. This outstanding Alpine had a comprehensive restoration 15 years ago including a bare shell re-paint. It has covered only around 3000 miles since then and was dry stored for two long periods so it remains in beautiful order. As you can see from the photos it also presents beautifully with a high quality paint finish and outstanding panel fit. The underside of the car is pleasingly clean with a wealth of new and re-furbished components and evidence of comprehensive Waxoyl treatment to the cavities.
Two years (and just 200 miles) ago it was treated to a comprehensive service and re-commissioning and more recently we have carried out various further jobs and several test miles. It is now ready to use and running and driving superbly with a pleasing exhaust note through the stainless exhaust and precise gear-change with working overdrive. Fitted with genuine Minilite wheels and mo-hair hood. One of the best.
