The last time VC6754 was offered on the open market was 1975, amusingly it was via an advert placed in ‘Motor Sport’, which stated no phone calls, and the purchaser should make formal contact by letter only to make an appointment to view! How times change….
VSCC member Bob Buttle duly wrote in response and VC6754 was acquired. Her condition was complete and original however in a worn state, the coachwork being derelict. Bob was known for his fastidious nature and quality workmanship. Rebuilding/ restoring the TJ 12/ 50 to “as new” condition. The body was replaced using a Wilkinson of Derby Beetle-back body, bought as a kit and assembled by Bradford mill pattern makers. This body is of the very highest of standards.
VC6754 presents in excellent condition throughout with unmarked paint, polished bonnet, recent firestone tyres, full tonneau is present, the hood is also very good and folds away neatly when down.
Mechanically VC6754 feels a very strong performer, with strong oil pressure, the S type close-ratio gearbox has just the right ratios providing enjoyable regular use. The present owner has had many enjoyable long trips in VC6754 and is reluctantly offered for sale due to lack of garage space.
