Description
This is an opportunity to own a very rare Limited Edition Peugeot 205 Roland Garros with good mileage, a fully documented service history, in a presentable and useable condition. Same engine as the great 205 Xs with the close ratio gearbox it is really fun to drive. I’ve recently just painted the bumpers as they were so faded (check the last 2 pictures) I can get more on request but the weathers not ideal today
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Peugeot main dealer in Newark, Lincolnshire on the 1st August 1989. The dealer Manager Richard still runs the dealership to this day and recalls G75 SFW fondly. The 205’s service history file is complete containing the current V5, original stamped service book and a vast amount of main dealer stamps, 16 stamps/ services in total plus the main dealer stamp for the 1000 to 1500 mile oil change and fluid check and a vast amount of mots and tax discs to verify the 104k miles. The 205 comes with the original owner’s folder which contains the owners handbook, Clarion radio owners guide, maintenance/ warranty book and dealer location guide, 3 Peugeot range brochures, two sets of original keys.
Recent major work since 90k also includes:
Timing belt, full service, battery, clutch, gearbox oil, rear cylinders, bearings, starter motor, full exhaust, front wheel bearings, new driveshaft, front calipers, ignition module & another timing belt and waterpump. All documented with invoices present.
It has also just had a full service at a Peugeot specialist as well as new brakes and a new battery.
It comes with MOT until December 2020 with no advisories.
The underside and arches are in a superb condition after receiving a thorough deep clean to protect from the elements, furthermore rust prevention was carried out to protect for the future. This work was carried out by Paul and the Team @ renowned Restore-a-car in the Cotswolds. Original jack and boot spanner present. Underside has no accident damage to structures. The bodywork is not in immaculate condition and has a couple of defects you would expect with a car that is now over 30 years old. However, anything that would need doing to make it immaculate is purely superficial and couple be rectified for little expense if the new owner decided to.
INTERIOR
The instantly recognisable tartan and white leather interior has stood up well to 30 years of the elements, with very little to mention in terms of defects. Offset against the green paintwork exposed on the door frames this looks extremely attractive. Headlining, door cards and dash are free from any damage or cracking.
The boot area is spotless, while the original parcel shelf is present and untouched. We have however been unable to identify a solution to the stereo (Clarion 97001F cassette radio) currently the unit powers up and responds to inputs but no sound?! Again, the interior is not immaculate as you would expect after 30 years. However, nothing that couldn't easily be rectified.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The The TU3 has a displacement of 1. 4 L (1, 360 cc), with a bore and a stroke of 75 mm × 77 mm (2. 95 in × 3. 03 in) paired with a double barrel carburettor and the manual 5 speed BE transmission have matching numbers. A major service has been carried out by a Peugeot / Citroen specialist less than 200 miles ago. A full description is listed with the supplied invoice.
