1988 Peugeot 309 1. 9 GTi 3 Door Phase 1. Futura Grey metallic with Grey velour upholstery and red piping. Supplied new in Switzerland, the is an early 309 GTi 1. 9, phase 1, the pure design. Big brother to the ever-popular 205 GTi, the 309 GTi is a true 'Q' car. It's slightly more staid appearance belies its high performance and excellent handing - many enthusiasts are of the opinion that it holds the road even better than the 205 GTi. Ordered new as 3 door and without a sunroof we believe its only it’s condition and extremely low mileage that has kept it away from being used as a competition car like so many 309GTIs were over the years. Having covered just 38, 000 Kms (24, 000 miles) from new and totally standard without any modifications. It comes with the original dealer wallet containing the service book, all manuals and handbooks and the radio cassette instructions. There is no evidence of any modifications and presents in factory silver and has the very desirable option of power steering. Having been stored in a private collection since 2009 It has now been fully re-commissioned including a new timing belt, service and fluids as well as many parts, this was all carried out in December 2024. On the road the GTi performs just as you would expect such a low mileage car to and is still quick by today’s standards and can’t fail to put a smile on your face and is quite possibly the best available today. A new MOT was applied on 28th October 2024 and on passed with no advisories. According to How Many Left there are just 47 309 GTi’s licensed on the road today. Absolutely any inspection welcome.
