For sale. 1964 Volvo PV 554 Sport Classic Rally Car
A well-presented classic rally car, no expense spared in maintaining this car to a high standard. The car has competed in the 2019 Classic Rally “Winter Trial”. The car has in previous years competed in the classic Tulip Rally. The car is fitted with the ultra-strong B18 engine, along with a lightened flywheel, and a fully balanced crankshaft, and an uprated camshaft by the previous owner. The engine is fitted with twin SU carburettors, oil cooler, electric rad fan, and is exhausted through a bespoke big bore system. Brakes have been upgraded to disc with servo assistance, and a front/ rear proportioning valve fitted inside the car to allow the driver to set the car up to his own requirements.
Strengthened front suspension upgraded to twin shock absorbers, and all front suspension bushes replaced with PE bushes in 2019. Gearbox rebuilt and strengthened by a Dutch specialist company. Rear axle has been reconditioned and a limited slip diff installed.
Fuel system is by twin tanks, the main tank has been replaced with a “Safari” tank, also a 75L supplementary tank installed in the boot with a changeover valve. Total capacity being approximately 130 l trs. Fuel feed is via a Facet pump installed in the boot.
The interior has a full roll cage, seats are period upgrade for long distance driving, and are fitted with 4 point harnesses. In the rear there are 2 spare wheels fitted with winter tyres. For the navigator there is a map light and a genuine period Halda trip master distance recorder unit in full working order.
The car is English registered and comes with V5.
Presently the car sits in a car storage facility on the south coast, but can be viewed at any time with prior notice.
Please note the mileage recorded on this vehicle is ZERO! Why? In classic rallying you are only allowed ONE mileage recorder, and this car is fitted with a Halda Pilot. Therefore the main recorder has to be disconnected and zeroed to pass scrutineering. Therefore the total mileage is unknown.
