We all know that Toyotas are built to last, and none more-so than the J series 4x4 whose production run lasted no less than 41 years, from 1960 to 2001!
This 1979 short wheelbase Land Cruiser BJ40 in Mustard Yellow is in remarkable original condition having spent most of its life in a dry climate in Japan.
Not only has the car never been welded, it also shows zero signs of any rust. The distinctive paintwork is excellent inside and out, as are the original steel wheels which are fitted with period correct Dunlop All Terrain tyres. Other exterior upgrades are the Warn front winch and Nato rear hitch.
Inside, the spartan but attractive interior boasts its original Toyota rubber mats, and the full-width dark grey leatherette split seating, which can accommodate 3 people, shows zero wear. There are also jump seats in the rear to accommodate a further 2 passengers.
The car drives beautifully, too. The 3. 0 4-cylinder diesel engine shows 46k miles on the clock and all mechanicals are in perfect working order having just been serviced as well as having suspension work carried out.
BJ40s have never lost their cool factor, and this attractive and honest example will not only put a smile on the face of anyone driving it, but anyone who sees it, too.
