Description
With only 662 RHD DHC XK150 cars every built, in all engine sizes and configurations, RJG is a rare car indeed. Built in September 1958 and sold through Henlys, London, RJG was fitted with engine number V5443-8 which she retains to this day and a manual-overdrive gearbox.
Wind forward three-and-a-bit decades to 1992 and the car came to the attention of our chairman. In need of total restoration by then, he set about commissioning the total overhaul and rebuilding of the car to its current specification. Thus, RJG effectively formed part of the early history of Classic Motor Cars as a business.
The car has stayed in the ownership of our chairman’s family ever since. 29 years of continuous history. In that time she has wanted for nothing being maintained regardless of cost and indeed recently benefiting from a new replacement handmade hood. Complete with extensive documentary history including many photographs and invoices from the cars restoration she has a wealth of provenance.
A wonderful car to drive, RJG has the feel of a well-oiled machine, combining classic British precision engineering and craftsmanship with that almost instinctive feel of an object that has passed from generation to generation whilst being lovingly cared for. Like a heirloom English shotgun or your fathers’ favour fly fishing reel, everything works and operates easily and predictably.
Now looking for a new family to enjoy her, why not give us a call. You could be the next chapter in the history of this fantastic motor car.
