Beschreibung

1967 E Alvis TF21 2 Door Saloon by Park Ward. One of the last Alvis cars built, they produced 80 in a single year with the 2 door Fixed Head Coupe style coachwork known as Saloons. This is the ultimate Alvis to buy and drive with the most powerful Triple Carburettor 3 Litre Straight Six Petrol Engine, ZF 5 Speed Manual Gearbox, Power Steering, Disc Brakes and Uprated Suspension. Recent high quality Front Seat Leather Retrim which matches the original interior well, 15 inch Spoked Wire Wheels with Knock off Spinners, Metal Sliding Sunroof, Stacked Imposing Headlamps and Fog lights and large History File. Full known ownership history including the famous Alvis owner (owned at least 11 Alvis cars) and motoring enthusiast Sir George Burton CBE DL, Chairman of Fisons Fertiliser during his ownership, the previous owner, David Adams purchased it in 1990. This Alvis has been maintained well, a recent bill for £1, 321. 85 is on file and it has always been in constant use and has covered around 15k miles since 2000. It is even M. O. T. tested annually even though it is exempt along with free historic road tax, last tested on 16th March 2020 with no advisories. The present owner has spent many hours in Alvis cars and it was inspected by 3 of his friends who are marque experts on purchase, the perfect example for celebrating the Alvis Centenary this year, it is a regular at Alvis Owner Club events.

British Racing Green Coachwork with Beige Leather Interior and Carpets. Chassis Number 27382, Registered 2nd March 1967 to a Mr Coxon. Featured on page 106 of Alvis 3 Litre in Detail.

Mileage displays 20, 075, the true mileage is 120, 075 but the instrument is only 5 digits, proved by the large history file but one would think the mileage is correct at first glance due to the superb condition of the motor car. 6 Former Keepers. RLD 717E, with pressed metal number plates.

Road Taxed (Exempt) so okay to test drive. It still retains the original 2, 993cc straight six engine which starts instantly, sounds lovely through the twin exhaust system and performs superbly. The coachwork is superb with just minor marks and flaws. The leather shows very few signs of wear and has the benefit of the recent front seat retrim and the woodwork is in very good condition as are the carpets. Mechanically it is very sound due to regular use and the recent £1, 321. 85 of expenditure.

If this was a Park Ward Coupe Bentley of the same era as parked next to in photograph 5 it would be worth between £200, 000 and £400, 000, it even shares the same rear lights. Alvis TF’s are unique, conservative in style, advanced in features, luxurious yet sporty in character and are always more exclusive than a Bentley or Rolls-Royce, I guarantee this will get you the front door parking spot at any high class establishment, it is a true gentleman’s express. Famous owners of Alvis 3 Litre Cars include Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh whose still owns his example which is kept on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk and Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader, Second World War Flying Ace who owned 3, his final example is privately owned in Lincolnshire by a friend of the present owner of this TF.

Sir George Burton bought his first car, a 1250 Alvis, for £10 before the war, and raced a Frazer-Nash at Brooklands. He also believed himself to be the only man ever to finish last two years running in the RAC Rally: "Still," he observed, "it was something to finish at all." He loved the Alvis and Ferrari marques, and collected a splendid selection of both over the years, including a Ferrari 500 Superfast once owned by the actor Peter Sellers, a 1970 Ferrari 365 GTC which was a particular favourite, and a 1936 Alvis Speed 25. Part of his collection, which also included a 1904 Peugeot, was kept in the basement garage of Fisons' Grosvenor Street head office in London, and under his aegis the company sponsored a Porsche in the Le Mans 24 Hour race.

This Motor Car can be viewed by prior appointment at the owners home near Grimsby in Lincolnshire, with good access from the A1 Road and the London to Edinburgh Mainline Railway.
