HISTORY OF THE 964 SPEEDSTER
The 964 Speedster was the third version of Porsche with the name ‘Speedster’ after the ‘356 Speedsters’ of the 1950s and 1989 ‘Carrera Speedster’. Introduced in 1992 with the first model year in 1993 with a two-year production span, the 964 Speedster was designed to be a focused driver's car, somewhere in between the 964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet and 964 RS. A total of 964 models were built, with 427 heading to the USA.
THIS VEHICLE
Original delivery was to its first owner in USA by Porsche Cars North America. It was later purchased by a well-known racing car Champion, then brought into the UK around 2014 where it has resided since.
Special factory specifications included the optional ‘Club Sport’ bucket lightweight seats, air conditioning, electric windows and the all-important five-speed manual transmission.
An excellent history file includes the initial purchase invoice, original marketing brochures, spare keys and historical services detailing work undertaken during its lifetime.
