EXTERIOR
The gorgeous lines of the Fulvia look magnificent in Rosso York, the paintwork retaining a deep shine and uniform colour throughout. The bodywork is rust-free with a consistent panel fit all round and no unsightly dents to report. During the restoration process this car was treated to a full glass-out respray in its original colour – with contrasting light cream upholstery this is surely one of the best colour combinations for a Fulvia.
On close inspection all the lights, brightwork, and glass panels are in superb condition throughout; the window rubbers are especially fresh having been replaced at the time of painting. The underside is very straight, solid, and appears entirely rust- and accident-free, with a protective Waxoyl coating applied throughout. The original chrome bumpers are still present and are included with the sale.
INTERIOR
Following a full refurbishment in recent years, the elegant Lancia cabin presents to a very high standard indeed – the most authentically restored interior we’ve seen in any Fulvia! Open the door and you’re greeted with perfectly upholstered seats, an elegant wood-trimmed dashboard with the ‘Fulvia’ script still in place (no ghastly aftermarket radio fitted as is so often the case), unmarked door cards, and a full tailored carpet over-mat covering the standard rubber mats.
Finer details such as the headlining and even the glove box have been beautifully restored using the correct materials – a real testament to the superb quality of the work. In the boot area you’ll find a tailored carpet mat, spare wheel, jack, toolkit, and bespoke indoor car cover.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Lifting the bonnet reveals a remarkably tidy engine bay. The characterful 1. 3-litre V4 engine runs very sweetly indeed, maintaining the correct oil pressure with minimal smoke and good, even compressions. The engine has covered a mere 4, 887km since the Fulvia's restoration.
Following the car's import into the UK in 2016, service work and general maintenance have been regularly carried out with receipts on file totaling £2, 360; the most recent service was done in May 2019.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The Fulvia sits on the correct 14-inch steel wheels, all of which present to an excellent standard having been blasted and fully re-painted; the correct Lancia centre badges are also still present. Importantly, all wheels are shod in period-correct Michelin XAS radial tyres. They retain ample tread having seen minimal use and are no older than four years. The correct tyre choice is very important to retain the Fulvia’s sweet handling they are so well known for. The brake fluid was replaced in 2017 along with a replacement brake balance limiter and dumbbell link.
HISTORY FILE
The Fulvia was first registered in Italy in January 1971. A standard Tipo 818. 630 model, it has recently been the subject of a thorough restoration by Italian artisans, working to the previous owner’s brief of returning the car to how it left the Chivasso plant back in ‘71. Although there are no receipts for the work (modus operandi in Italy), it is obvious that this was a comprehensive job and a significant sum has been spent. The Lancia remained in Italy until it was imported into the UK in 2015. Maintenance since then includes:
