Description
1990 Nissan Pao
83k miles / 133k km
1litre petrol, 3sp Automatic
MOT extended to Jan 2021 (has covered about 300km since the last one)
I’ve had the Pao for about 5 years now, and I love her to bits, but unfortunately a growing family, and other financial commitments means I can’t justify just keeping her for the sake of it. She’s been great to us, from being our wedding car, to bringing my new born daughter home from hospital.
In that time, she’s been kept in a garage, and only ever come out in summer when its worth having the roof open, which is why in my 5 years, she’s done about 2000km.
Before me, the first uk owners were a family from Highbury, London, and she was their only car, taking car of commuting, school runs, the family trips to the isle of wight etc. She did pic up a few battle scars in the process, so is by no means a pristine car, but I like to think of it as patina.
Good bits:
Runs and stops great. Not fast, but always willing. Underpinnings are K10 Micra so parts and knowledge is easy to come by.
New battery last year. Starts easily.
All new engine mounts (doesn’t shake and judder like she used to!)
Vacuum lines replaced
Just been serviced (her 3rd time in 2000km!)
Original radio with an aftermarket CD player hidden away
Air-Con! It works, but its not ice cold, just colder than not using it.
Full electric roof! Works, but needs a hand to go the final 3 inches.
Original Parcel shelf. Quite rare now!
Working power steering!
Opening ¼ light windows
Speedo is still in kph, but is quite out, so its exactly double: 30mph = 60kph
Classic insurance costs me about £120 a year!
Not so good:
Body isn’t perfect. There’s 4 small spots of surface rust under the paint. None of which have gotten worse in my ownership, but worth noting. (have a google album showing everything)
1 small hole in the floor. Again, have a pic. Rest of the underside is ok, but I would want to protect it now while you can.
Roof ideal needs replacing, just shrunk over time and the edges are pretty frayed. A new roof skin is about £200 on ebay. If I was using her all year round, I think you’d want this.
I think a new set of shock absorbers would help the ride, it’s a bit crashy. I would go for some new standards to keep it sensible, I know gas and other uprated sets are available if you want, but shes not about going fast!
The Japanese owner I think must have smoked as theres 2 small cigarette burns in the passenger, and the rear bench seat.
Rubbers are getting a bit old. Door window seals and scrapers have shrunk, and the boot hatch rubber probably wants to be replaced as when I washed it I saw some water drip down.
The spare wheel isn’t affixed down, so that can bounce in the boot!
The tires are getting old now, and could probably do with being replaced soon.
Spares:
I have a completed Micra 5speed manual gear box, mounts, linkage, and pedal box that could be used to a manual conversion
Original Pao workshop manual. Very rare. All in Japanese. Very cool.
Think I have some break discs and pads too, that I bought but didn’t need.
have a google album with lots of photos!
Price:
£3750 with spares
£3500 without
