Project Tithonus
Around 2007 / 2008 the Ministry of Defense “Refurbished” a number of (1985 – 1987) Land Rovers 110s (exact numbers and estimates vary from 1200 to 2700) under the “Life Extension Plan” (LEP)
Project Tithonus as it was called was to extend the service life of these Land Rovers from 20 to 30 years.
Mainly 110 FFR (Fitted for Radio) were chosen, as these were often in better condition than the General Service Land Rovers.
They were given a number of improvements such as:
Wolf type roll cage
Wolf type hard top
Wolf Wheels
Rear seats with belts
Improved “defender style” front seats
Bulkheads – refurbished where necessary
Chassis – Refurbished where necessary
Front and rear soundproofing
So – effectively 75% WOLF for about half the money !!
This particular example comes with its military history record print out (available on request), which shows the description on the military chassis plate :

The “Defender” and “LEP” were added to the vehicle description at the time of refurbishment – confirming that it is part of the Tithonus project.
Also comes with a copy of the “CAST” showing date of disposal 04. 04. 12 and moved to Witham Specialist Vehicles 25. 04. 2012

Finally sold off to private ownership and civilian registered May 2015 – mileage at the time 181, 760km (113, 600 miles)
This Land Rover has had only 1 civilian owner and current mileage is 205, 172km = (128, 232 miles) and this is backed up by the MOT history.
The 24v alternator has been removed, but is available with the Land Rover if required.
The radio wiring and frame (not checked for completeness) is also available loose with the vehicle.
Finally, there is also a Sankey trailer which is in good condition
