EXTERIOR
The lustrous black coachwork is offset perfectly by contrasting pinstripes and plentiful chrome details, the paint presenting to a really high standard throughout with a deep shine across every panel. Both sides of the car appear arrow-straight and the brightwork is as radiant as ever, free from any age-related wear or scratches. The electric hood is also in fine condition with absolutely no damage to speak of, still operating smoothly at the touch of a button. In recent years the XJS has resided within a large private collection, remaining carefully dry stored to preserve its amazing condition. All in all, this has to be one of the finest UK examples we’ve had the pleasure of selling.
INTERIOR
The interior can best be described as excellent. The piped leather upholstery presents beautifully, perfectly in line with the car’s super low mileage of just 32k. With no damage to the bolsters the seats remain in outstanding original condition having never been re-coloured; even the door cards are without any scratches or marking. Elsewhere, glossy burr walnut adorns the centre console, dash fascia, and door panels. The trim is in particularly fine order with no fading or lacquer peel to report. Another nice touch within this example are the black carpets – rare to find in an XJS – which add a welcome contrast and further extension of the car’s exquisite colour combo. In the boot you’ll find the spare wheel still in its vinyl covering, the original tool roll, and an indoor car cover.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
With only 32k miles covered the 5. 3-litre V12 is barely run-in. In true XJS style the engine bay is densely packed but presents in very good order nonetheless. Clearly a cossetted example, the car is accompanied by one of the best XJS service histories we have seen, with no fewer than 19 stamps in the original service booklet. We will be having the car freshly inspected, serviced, and MOT’d prior to sale for the new keeper’s peace of mind.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The XJS sits on the correct 15-inch cross-spoke alloys with unmarked Jaguar centre caps. Amazingly the wheels still retain their factory paint finish having never been refurbished. Some light marking and age-related wear is visible on closer inspection, but even so the wheels still look great. They are shod in Pirelli P600 tyres at each corner.
HISTORY FILE
This exquisitely presented V12 convertible was first registered in October 1990; it was supplied new by Jaguar in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The low mileage of just 32k is thoroughly documented in the accompanying History File by a raft of maintenance invoices, MOT certificates, and 19 entries in the original service booklet, which is stamped at the following mileages: 1, 080 – 1, 574 – 1, 937 – 2, 861 – 3, 481 – 5, 233 – 6, 463 – 8, 667 – 10, 583 – 15, 532 – 16, 110 – 16, 556 – 21, 693 – 23, 282 – 24, 489 – 25, 321 – 26, 335 – 28, 622 – and lastly at 29, 139 miles.
The current owner purchased the XJS for his extensive private collection back in 2013. The car has seen only the lightest of use since then with just a few hundred miles driven each year. It has always been carefully stored and maintained accordingly. We will be having a full mechanical inspection carried out prior to sale, along with a fresh service and MOT.
