Description
THIS is a 1953 Ford Prefect E439A. I never did know what all that stood for. And today I am no further forward.
Still, she is rock solid and her panel work is indeed excellent for a 67-year-old car. Her paint work too is very good and you would leave well alone. There's the minor imperfection here and there but it is of good quality and has a deep lustre to it. Any little bits, you could probably improve yourself on a Sunday morning. In fact, you might even want to take it for a drive on a Sunday morning. I can't imagine you would want to get behind the wheel any other time of the week. Not when there's traffic about.
Anyway, that said, she would sit comfortably and look well at home on a show ground. Probably the best place for her. She would probably enjoy a short outing to a picnic spot where you could indulge in some of granny's egg and cress sandwiches, a packet of crisps and some Blue Ribands. That would be nice. If it rains, you can battendown the hatches and stay inside all nice and snug on the original leather seats. They show wear and tear after 73 years and some markings as well as some splits to the front pair. The driver's seat could do with re-padding on the base. All the same, the art deco dashboard is pretty and you could look at that in the absence of a fitted wireless.
She's a bonny enough thing for the odd tootle about. Mmm, yes, odd.
She may look quirky, odd, old fashioned, very 1940s or just plain crackers, but she is different and will stand out from the crowd. She is not a Morris Minor and she is probably cheaper than most of those things nowadays!
So, happy picnicking and may your travel rug go with you.
Should you opt to purchase a classic car from me - classic meaning that it will be the equivalent of a motoring antique - then you are accepting that the vehicle will have had faults in the past and that, inevitably, there will be more to deal with in the future. Almost certainly and unless stated otherwise, the vehicle will have undergone some degree of restoration work and, again, it is more than likely it will need more at some stage during its life. I am a one-man enthusiast who enjoys unearthing these old girls and finding new homes for them. Viewing is highly recommended and then you can form your opinion of an aged vehicle just as I will have already formed mine. Modern-day life practically dictates that the majority of classic vehicles - and it is certainly the case with mine - are sold via internet advertising and with the added bonus of digital photographs. Extra and specific photographs will also be available on request. Should you choose to buy without viewing in person then please don't tell me a month later that the horn doesn't work, the full beam is faulty or that you have found some ancient repair of which I knew nothing. My terms therefore are that by buying from me you are accepting that, almost inevitably, classic vehicles will require further remedial work at some stage.
I accept all major debit cards and can also assist with delivery if required. Thanks for reading if you have managed to make it this far! Martin the details below)
