this car belonged to paolo romanazzi, a famous italian entrepreneur that recently died at the age of 83.
he was founder and ceo of officine romanazzi in rome, famous for being a protagonist of the "dolce vita" and for being a very close friend of gianni agnelli "l'avvocato".
in those year know in italy as "the years of lead" it was diffused among highly exposed entrepreneurs to be a target for the violent left wing know as "brigate rosse" (red brigades) and therefore to travel in an armored car with an armed escort.
paolo romanazzi always travelled with this car until he moved to a more modern one in 1986.
also, gianni agnelli having no armored car at disposal among his cars (also because he loved driving fast and sporty and also because he didn't like having an escort behind) asked paolo romanazzi several times to lend him this mercedes when travelling from turin to milan and rome.
