The last of the “T” type Midgets arrived in 1953 with a substantial facelift over the “TD” and a 58bhp version of the 1250cc XPAG engine. It remained in production with various changes until 1955 when it was superseded by the MGA.
This car is a 1954 MG TF 1250 in red with a black interior - it has just arrived and to avoid confusion, we have another similar car in stock but that one is now sale agreed. It presents in beautiful condition having benefitted from a recent “ground-up” restoration by its retired engineer owner. He bought the car four years ago as a solid restoration project, then completely stripped and re-built it with a new ash frame. A new interior has been fitted and the engine was re-built by “T series” expert Peter Edney. There are is also a seemingly endless list of new parts, too much to list here but the bills in the history file make for a long and interesting read.
The result is an outstanding car – not quite concours - but many areas (including the underside) have an “as new” appearance. Most importantly, it is well put together, and faithfully restored to origial specification - unusually, this car was specified new with spoke wheels. On the road, this is by far and away the best driving “T” series we have driven with a tight feel and strong power from the 1250 XPAG engine.
Ready to use and needing nothing this car offers superb value at substantially less than the cost of buying and restoring a project car.
