1971 Triumph GT6 For Sale
The Triumph GT6 is a six cylinder sports coupe built by Triumph. These vehicle's were based on their popular Triumph Spitfire convertible. Contemporary Triumph marketing advertised the GT6 as being developed from the race winning Le Mans Spitfires to capitalize on their aesthetic similarities. Production ran from 1966 to 1973. There was three generations for this vehicle, the Mark I, Mark II and Mark III. The final major facelift for the GT6 came in 1970 in the form of the Mk III. This time the entire body was revised to match the changes made to the Spitfire Mk IV. Engine power and torque for the Mk III was similar to the Mk II, but better aerodynamics led to a new top speed of 112 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 10. 1 seconds.
This 1971 Triumph GT6 was with the previous owner for many years. As far as we know the engine and transmission are original to the vehicle. The car does run and drive, but will need some more tlc to be 100% roadworthy. The exhaust has been changed to an aftermarket one that sounds great. Has disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear. Has all four Triumph wheels with the beauty rings and hubcaps. Previous owner had installed a new fuel tank, fuel sender and a fuel pump before we got the vehicle. Has manual windows.
The interior on the vehicle is mostly complete. Will require the boot floor covers. The dash has been uncut and has all the original switches and gauges. Dash has a cap on it. Electrical wise the car is great. All the lights work. The car does retain the original steering wheel. The glass on the vehicle is all there and in good shape. This vehicle does have a few rust spots. The underside of the car is very solid.
