Description

TRIUMPH GT6 MKI Every one of our cars is rigorously inspected before sale: over 70 checkpoints are verified (mechanicals, chassis, bodywork, interior and accessories) plus a full road test carried out by our workshop foreman. Each car also benefits from an engine compression test and/ or a cold oil pressure check (subject to technical feasibility). Our cars are prepared in our workshop, which specialises in classic, sports and prestige motors. TRIUMPH GT6 (1966-1973) 40, 926 built, including 15, 818 in MK I form 59, 611 km / 37, 041 miles Collection registration, 5-speed manual gearbox, chrome rocker cover, stainless steel exhaust system with twin exit, new fuel tank (invoice: EUR 1, 034), electronic ignition, High Torque starter motor, 4 FALKEN tyres, 4 13-inch Minilite-style wheels, chrome rear-view mirror, black faux-leather upholstery with matching contrast stitching, wooden dashboard, SMITHS instrumentation, gauges on the dashboard: water temperature and fuel, centre armrest, 3-spoke wooden steering wheel, wooden TRIUMPH gear knob, passenger grab handle, 2-point 'aviation-style' seatbelts, black carpets with black over-mats, white faux-leather headlining, original steel spare wheel, jack. Model history: Born from a prototype designed by Graham Robson (competition team manager for the Le Mans 24 Hours), the original project was abandoned, as was the original Spitfire name, which became the GT6. The main appeal of this fastback Spitfire remains its punchy, sonorous straight-six, even though, as is often the case with Triumph, this torquey unit does not much enjoy high revs. Thus transformed, the 'Spit' really comes alive and today delights classic car enthusiasts as well as fans of rare, well-powered Triumphs. Bodywork / Exterior: The car offered here is a January 1968 TRIUMPH GT6 MKI in its period-correct Old English White. The bodywork was fully repainted about ten years ago and is now in very good cosmetic condition, with no signs of cracking, crazing or oxidation. Following a professional machine polish carried out in-house, we noted a fine scratch on the rear left wing and paint chips on the driver's door edge. The chrome bumpers are perfectly aligned and in good condition despite some minor swirl marks. The front overriders show signs of oxidation. The 4 13-inch Minilite-style wheels are in excellent condition. The 4 FALKEN tyres show 10% wear. This car retains its original steel spare wheel and jack. Notable bodywork / exterior equipment and options fitted to this car include: the 4 13-inch Minilite-style wheels. Interior: The interior is in excellent condition. The black faux-leather upholstery was restored a few years ago and is in excellent cosmetic condition. The handbrake gaiter and armrest are in perfect condition. The original wooden dashboard is in good cosmetic condition. All the original SMITHS instrumentation, including the gauges, is fully functional. The 3-spoke wooden steering wheel and the TRIUMPH gear knob are in excellent condition. The door cards, matched to the upholstery, are also in excellent condition. The white faux-leather headlining is perfectly taut. The black carpet set is in excellent condition and protected by over-mats. Notable interior accessories fitted to this car include: the 3-spoke wooden steering wheel, the 'aviation-style' seatbelts and the Retrosound radio. Chassis: Raising the car on the ramp confirms a sound chassis and shell, with no evidence of accident damage or visible structural corrosion. The fundamentals (sills, lower wings, wheel arches, floors, ladder chassis and longerons) are in very good condition. Usage caveat: as a matter of principle, we...
