All our vehicles undergo rigorous inspection before being put up for sale: over 70 checkpoints are assessed (mechanics, chassis, bodywork, interior and accessories), plus a comprehensive road test carried out by our workshop manager. Each vehicle also undergoes an engine compression test and/ or a cold oil pressure check (where technically feasible). Our vehicles are prepared in our workshop, which specialises in classic, sports and luxury cars.

Model history:
Born from a prototype designed by Graham Robson (team manager of the racing department for the 24 Hours of Le Mans), the initial project was abandoned, as was the original ‘Spitfire’ name, which was changed to ‘GT6’.
The main attraction of this “fastback” Spitfire remains its powerful and throaty straight-six engine, even though, as is often the case with TRIUMPH, this fairly torquey engine does not particularly enjoy high revs.
Thus transformed, the ‘Spit’ seems to have found a new lease of life and is now a delight for enthusiasts of classic cars as well as collectors of rare, well-powered TRIUMPHs.

Bodywork / Exterior:
The model presented here is a January 1968 TRIUMPH GT6 MKI in its original ‘Old English White’ paintwork.
The bodywork was fully repainted around ten years ago.
It is now in very good condition, with no signs of cracks, flaking or oxidation.
Following a professional orbital polishing carried out by our workshop, we noted the presence of a fine scratch on the left rear wing and some paint chips on the edge of the driver’s door
The chrome bumpers are perfectly aligned and in good condition, despite the presence of some minor micro-scratches. The front bumpers show signs of oxidation.
The four 13-inch ‘MINILITE’-style alloy wheels are in excellent condition.
The four FALKEN tyres show 10 per cent wear.
This car comes with its original steel spare wheel and jack.
Among the interesting ‘Bodywork / Exterior’ features and options fitted to this car, we have noted:
The four 13-inch ‘MINILITE’ alloy wheels.

Interior:
The interior is in excellent condition.
The ‘Black’ imitation leather upholstery was restored a few years ago.
It is in excellent condition.
The handbrake bellows and the armrest are in perfect condition.
The original wooden dashboard is in good condition.
All the original SMITHS instruments and gauges are fully functional.
The three-spoke wooden steering wheel and the TRIUMPH gear knob are in excellent condition.
The door panels, which match the upholstery, are also in excellent condition.
The ‘White’ imitation leather headlining is perfectly taut.
The ‘Black’ carpet set is in excellent condition and protected by carpet protectors.
Among the interior accessories fitted to this example, we note:
The three-spoke wooden steering wheel, ‘aviation-style’ seat belts and the Rétrosound radio.

Chassis:
A lift inspection confirms a sound chassis and bodywork, with no signs of accident damage or apparent structural corrosion.
The key components – sills, wing lower sections, wheel arches, floor panels, ladder-frame chassis and side members – are in very good condition.
Standard disclaimer: as a matter of principle, we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond the vehicle’s good visual and functional condition, as verified during the road test and the lift inspection.
During the dynamic test, we detected no abnormal noises from the bodywork or running gear (ball joints, silent blocks, etc.).
The braking system is properly aligned, stable and complies with the standards of the era.
The front brake discs and pads show 5% wear.
The rear brake drums are fully functional and will be checked prior to delivery.
The MOT test carried out by our workshop prior to delivery of the vehicle will also confirm that the entire system is in good working order.

Engine / Transmission:
The mechanical components are in perfect working order:
The compression test and road test carried out by our workshop confirm that the engine block is in very good condition.
It starts immediately, with no smoke or suspicious noises.
Once warmed up, the 6-cylinder engine revs perfectly.
The engine’s sound is enhanced by a complete stainless steel exhaust system with twin stainless steel tailpipes.
Engine starting has been improved by the fitting of an electronic ignition system and a high-torque starter motor.
The fuel tank has been replaced with a new one (Invoice: €1, 034)
The original 4-speed gearbox was replaced a few years ago with a FORD T9 5-speed gearbox, which is more pleasant to drive.
The clutch has good bite.
As is often the case with these models, the seal between the engine, gearbox and rear axle remains only average.

The archetypal high-performance British coupé, the GT6 looks like a Spitfire converted into a shooting brake. This elegant little ‘fastback’ is an ideal entry point into the world of high-performance British 6-cylinder engines.
Highly sought-after in the classic car market, its extreme rarity also ensures it holds its value well and is easy to resell.

Our listing provides a detailed description of the vehicle’s condition under the headings Bodywork/ Exterior, Interior, Chassis and Engine/ Transmission.
You will also find over 50 photographs, a video of the engine running, as well as all the vehicle’s details and specifications.
Should you require any further information, we are of course happy to provide it upon request.
